ACORN Corruption Caught on Tape

Everyone has been covering and talking about the president’s big health care speech and about the usual political games being played in the Beltway on healthcare reform.

“Will the Democrats and Nancy Pelosi be able to get the votes?”

“Did you see the Republican who was really rude during the speech?”

I’m not wasting one second debating the things politicians want me to debate. I’m not playing their game, because we are being lied to. And it doesn’t take a genius to see that. All you have to do is look at their own words — like Obama Wednesday night saying there are about 30 million uninsured Americans. Wait, wasn’t it something different about a month ago?

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIPS)

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA [AUGUST 11, 2009]: I just want to be honest here, there are about 46 million people that are uninsured.

OBAMA [September 9, 2009]: There are now more than 30 million American citizens who cannot get coverage.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIPS)

Wow, how about that? Sixteen to 17 million people suddenly have health insurance. Shouldn’t the president be celebrating that? Of course not, because 16 million people aren’t suddenly magically insured.

How did he arrive at that number? An administration official says the 30 million figure is: “The total uninsured minus illegal immigrants and a smaller group of people who fall through the cracks.”

Really?

Mr. “Health care for All” is going to turn away the unfortunate people who “fall through the cracks”? Isn’t that the whole point of universal health care? But no one will point out that fact — instead, it will all be about Congressman Joe Wilson yelling at Obama and calling him a liar.

Don’t get bogged down in the nonsense; the day-to-day political garbage. It’s about more than just what’s on page 100 of the health care bill. It’s about an entire system of corruption.

Corruption consistently ranks No. 2 in polls as the biggest problem — it should be No. 1. Corruption affects everything and right now it seems to be everywhere.

• Is Beck right? Click here to sound off

It is certainly at ACORN — an organization that in your gut you knew was bad, but that the president said this about:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

THEN-PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE OBAMA [December 1, 2007]: Before I even get inaugurated, during the transition we’re going to be calling all of you in to help us shape the agenda. So that you have input into the agenda for the next presidency of the United States of America.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

If you want to know the president’s agenda you have to see who he as surrounded himself with. We showed you Van Jones. Now, here is something else — it’s an entire organization.

Let me show you what ACORN really is.

There are new undercover tapes that expose the corruption in ACORN. It’s a man and his “girlfriend” going into an ACORN office in Baltimore, Maryland, looking for help in buying a house. Why do they need help? You will see in a second. The girl — “Kenya” — is playing a prostitute and says she is being discriminated against by the banks and the police because she is involved in illegal activity. “James” is playing a politician.

Here it is — we start with a woman at ACORN — Tondra — who says she is a “tax specialist” — Tondra — and she is about to see if there is a way in the tax code to call her something other than a “prostitute”:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

TONJA: So — so the type of businesses — OK. The type of business or service you provide — let me make sure there’s a code for it, OK?

JAMES: A code for prostitution?

TONJA: Well, yeah cause we — we have to have — I have to have a name and a code number.

JAMES: Well, I don’t know if there’s gonna be a code.

TONJA: But I’m gonna look in there, I’m gonna get my list.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

Now, as the tax specialist goes to find information, another ACORN worker — Shira — jumps in for a pep talk:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SHIRA: First of all, you — you looking for your own house. Once you — once you — once they say you’re buyer-ready, the good thing is you gonna get your own house where you’re gonna live at. And — and I tell everybody, do not ever, ever — whatever you will learn business and be proud of it.

KENYA: OK.

SHIRA: You’re 19 years old, be proud of it.

KENYA: OK.

SHIRA: OK. Don’t feel like because you still have a job. You’re not robbing nobody, you’re not hurting nobody, you’re not stealing from nobody, OK?

KENYA: OK, thank you.

TONJA: OK, let’s see what we got here. Combination food service and drinking places. Uh, (UNINTELLIGIBLE) business (UNINTELLIGIBLE) agencies. Credit bureaus. You might have to name it something else. In order for you to file a return for the business —

(END VIDEO CLIP)

Be proud of being a prostitute? Yes, be proud — but name it “something else” besides prostitution.

Again, the couple has questions about that whole pesky “tax return” process — they want to avoid that. Don’t worry, they’ve come to the right place. ACORN knows just what to do in this situation:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JAMES: OK, is there any way around that, though?

TONJA: Yeah, don’t file. Obviously continue doing cash.

KENYA: But —

JAMES: OK.

TONJA: Just don’t file.

KENYA: So that’s what I’ve been doing, but what about a house?

(END VIDEO CLIP)

Listen to that — they ask if there is anyway around and ACORN answers yes, you don’t have to file.

Then, they continue with more creative alternate name ideas:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JAMES: Before we get too much into details, there’s another variable.

TONJA: OK, we can do this. How ’bout if you wanna do that, OK they got — other amusement and recreational services.

JAMES: We could probably — we could probably toss her behind recreational services, right?

KENYA: Amusement.

TONJA: But that would be including golf courses, skiing facility, arena, fitness centers, bowling centers, skating rinks, miniature golf courses. Hmm. Amusements parks and arcades. The gambling industry. Performance arts. Let’s see. Independent artists. You could be that.

Which is — what — will be — what you are, performing artist.

So we could potentially qualify as performing arts or the other one was —

TONJA: right, you can use performing arts as your, um, the principal business.

JAMES: OK.

TONJA: OK? And there’s a code for that.

JAMES: OK.

TONJA: So that if you wanna file a tax — cause you need to do a Schedule C, which is a profit and loss from business.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

Remember: This an organization that may get as much as $8.5 billion in stimulus money. Remember what President Obama said about ACORN?

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

THEN-PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE OBAMA [December 1, 2007]: Before I even get inaugurated, during the transition we’re going to be calling all of you in to help us shape the agenda. So that you have input into the agenda for the next presidency of the United States of America.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

But it’s about to get much, much worse.

As if encouraging an illegal business and tax fraud isn’t enough to convince you — I’m not sure what will — how about this, when the prostitute and pimp reveal what the real agenda is:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JAMES: I wanted — I wanted to ask you a question about, um — we should talk to you about, which may complicate our taxes is that we’ve got a couple girls overseas coming over, you know what I mean? And they’re very young. And we don’t wanna — we don’t wanna put them on the — on the books.

KENYA: They’re kind of dependents.

JAMES: They’re from El Salvador.

TONJA: OK.

JAMES: There’s like 13 of ’em.

TONJA: OK.

JAMES: And they’re probably gonna move in with — into the house that we get.

KENYA: Just for a year or two to get them on their feet.

JAMES: Just to get them on their feet so they can do this type of thing.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

It’s not just one prostitute — it’s a whole bunch of them! This house is going to be a brothel!

ACORN, even after that revelation, continues to help. How could it be worse? What if the boyfriend dropped the bombshell that the women from overseas aren’t even legal citizens? Would that change things?

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

TONJA: As far as the feds coming in, um, as far as the tax part. Now if you’re gonna cover yourself on that part, you could issue them 1099s.

JAMES: But they’re not even legal citizens.

TONJA: You don’t have to worry about ’em. You — not unless they gonna get — if they gonna go get an ID — a federal — sorry. If they gonna get a Social Security number, even for working.

But then you know what? You can always claim them as dependents. Can’t do all of ’em. But — you can use ’em as a dependent because they live in your house, especially if they under 16.

JAMES: And they can be in the housing that we get?

TONJA: Right.

JAMES: Apply for, they can be in the housing. We can use the house for them.

How many of them would I be allowed to —

TONJA: Three.

JAMES: Three as dependents? So we got —

TONJA: Three that you’re gonna get credit for.

JAMES: So if we got 13 of ’em in the house, we’re just gonna have to not exist 10 of ’em?

(END VIDEO CLIP)

The ACORN tax specialist has just said don’t worry about the illegal aliens — call them dependents.” She adds “especially if they are under sixteen.” The couple made it clear a moment ago that these girls were going to be prostitutes — that doesn’t seem to bother the ACORN worker and neither does the fact that all of this is illegal:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

TONJA: If they’re making money and they’re under age, you shouldn’t let nobody know anyway.

(LAUGHTER)

JAMES: What?

TONJA: You shouldn’t be letting anyone know anyway.

JAMES: That’s what — that’s what happens. We tell the bankers and they kick us out.

TONJA: Right, because they — because it’s illegal. So I’m not hearing this. OK? I’m not hearing this. You talk too much. Don’t talk — don’t — don’t give no information you’re not asked.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

They’ve now spent a lot of time making sure they have the story straight, trying to let the couple know what is legal and illegal. The couple keeps asking questions and ACORN still will not say “Hey, maybe you shouldn’t do this because it’s wrong.” They just work even harder at getting the story straight:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SHIRA: You stop talking about. You don’t — I’m gonna tell you. You gonna be running for business. You don’t want anybody knowing anything about you. You know so when he do such and such later down the road.

KENYA: Which we had an argument, and that’s why he wants me off the boat, but he still wants me around close.

SHIRA: You don’t want nobody to set down anything that’s — any time there’s a business, you don’t sit down and discuss nothing. Loose lips sink ships.

JAMES: See if I didn’t discuss this with you, and it came up during the approval process, and then they sorry, (CROSSTALK) we can’t do it.

SHIRA: No, no. You don’t bring that up. She’s purchasing a house. Do not. She is buying a house to live in. OK?

(END VIDEO CLIP)

How can ACORN be so brazen? So willing to lead someone further into a life of crime? They have an out, of course, one that they would have got away with if they weren’t caught on tape. And remember the illegal immigrants the couple has talked about bringing into the sex trade? The ones ACORN says to claim as dependents? Listen to their ages:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

KENYA: What if some of my girls get in trouble though? If it comes back to me and somehow it gets back to them?

JAMES: At ACORN, and it damages you guys?

SHIRA: Now first of all, it’s not gonna damage us ’cause we’re not gonna know.

JAMES: OK.

SHIRA: OK? And with your girls — with your girls, you tell them, be careful. Train them to keep their mouth shut.

JAMES: These girls are like 14. How can we trust them?

KENYA: Fourteen — fifteen. I’ll be teaching, you know, I speak Spanish, so I’ll be teaching them English.

SHIRA: Be careful. That’s all.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

Fourteen years old. Being shipped over into the sex trade. And ACORN is not only OK with that, they actively encourage the couple to “train them” to be silent and to “be careful”:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

She’s not gonna say prostitution. Ok, you’re telling us this, but we know what to say. We know —

KENYA: You know the system.

(CROSSTALK)

JAMES: You know what to say to whom?

TONJA: To people that you need to like, for the housing purposes or for tax purposes.

JAMES: OK, OK, OK.

TONJA: You see what I’m saying?

JAMES: So you’re taking care of this problem.

TONJA: So we, but I don’t want you to say it to nobody.

JAMES: OK.

TONJA: OK?

KENYA: We can’t — we can’t be like, they’re working a special favor for us. Like we just need to know amongst ourselves that they’re doing a (CROSSTALK) favor.

TONJA: And if anyone asks you, your business is a performing artist.

KENYA: A performing artist.

TONJA: Which you are, OK? So you’re not lying.

KENYA: That’s kind of boosting my ego.

TONJA: It’s a little play on words. But you’re a performing artist, OK? So stop saying prostitute. OK? ‘Cause as soon as you say that, people will shut you down. They don’t even want to hear nothing else you’re saying. That’s why the banks shut you down ’cause it’s considered illegal.

JAMES: OK.

TONJA: See? Whereas a performing artist is not.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

Let me make one thing clear: This is not about these two women at ACORN. If the media does what they did to Van Jones, the real message will be lost. It’s not about these women — not even ACORN.

It’s about the power behind ACORN. The power of Wade Rathke. He and his brother run, out of New Orleans, ACORN and SEIU. Those two organizations are in the inner circle of the president of the United States.

They’ll shut ACORN down if they have to. They’ll definitely fire these two women. But this is a shell game: Rathke will just keep doing the same thing under something else.

This is about who the president surrounds himself with.

You must not allow Washington to move — both sides of the aisle. They are stealing our republic. Let’s clean out the corruption before we talk about any other program or any other thing.
